A Detailed Review of the New Balance 9.0e Elliptical Trainer
Strengths:

Conform Hand Grips - Ergonomically designed ComForm hand grips have a soft tactile surface for a comfortable and easy grasp that contours to your fingers. Plus you get built in pulse sensors which make it easy to continuously monitor your heart rate while working out.

Decent Warranty - Compared to other similarly priced ellipticals, this is a pretty decent warranty - better than most.  With 10 years on the frame, 2 years on electronics and 1 year on parts, you have some peace of mind that this elliptical offers decent quality of construction.

High User Weight Capacity - The 300 pound user weight capacity is also pretty decent - especially for an elliptical at this price point. Compared to many other ellipticals under $1000, which usually offer only 250 pounds and under, it is superior.

Weaknesses:

15" Stride - This is a very small stride length - especially for the price you're paying.  If you want the best of stride lengths with a commercial grade feel, consider the Nordic Track models which cost less and usually give you a longer 18" stride.

Also, the brand is so new to the market, they really haven't had the time to work out the kinks in their product line yet.

There hasn't been time to build up any real customer reviews yet. Then again, you never know, New Balance may turn out to be a force to be reckoned with.

Bottom Line:  Average Value

At this price point, the New Balance 9.0e elliptical trainer offers you only average value for the money.  While the 300 pound user weight capacity, 13 built-in programs and 10 year frame warranty are decent features, they are offset by a small 15" stride length.

There's also a lot of competition around this price point, and some models which give you better value than the New Balance 9.0e (For example the Nordic Track models  have longer stride lengths and cost less).

New Balance is probably better known for it's running shoes than their fitness equipment.

They are one of the new players on the block and partnered with Fitness Quest back in 2003 to start making elliptical trainers, treadmills and exercise bikes.

(Fitness Quest are the guys behind products like the Total Gym, Ab Lounge and Tony Little Products).

Although new to the market, New Balance ellipticals have been receiving pretty good reviews so far and the New Balance 9.0e elliptical trainer is one of the most popular ellipticals with buyers.
