Nautilus NE 3000 Elliptical

A Detailed Review of the Nautilus NE3000 Elliptical Trainer
Strengths:

SyncLink Articulating Foot Platforms - The articulating foot platform tracks the natural movement of your feet through elliptical motion.  This makes for a much more comfortable, smooth workout.

Adjustable Stride - The four-bar linkage foot pedals provide an optimum stride length for anyone, regardless of size.

Heart Rate Control - The Nautilus NE 3000 comes with built-in workout programs that monitor your heart rate and automatically adjust the intensity level of your workout based on your target zone.

Self-Generating Resistance - Because the Nautilus NE 3000 uses a self-generating resistance system, you don't need a cord and can place the elliptical anywhere you want.

One user however pointed out that if you leave the unit for too long it does lose the memory of your workout - the downside of not having a plug-in unit.

Remote Controls in Upper Body Handlebars - This is a really neat feature that makes it easy to change resistance without moving your hands to the console.

Weaknesses:

Some user reviews we read, while they liked the unit overall, did report problems with the electronics and console. And at this price point, the Nautilus NE 3000 has some stiff competition.  Plus a leading consumer magazine gave the NE3000 a negative review in their latest issue due to the fact that the power cuts off under certain conditions.

Also, for this price we would have liked to see a higher user weight capacity (for example, the Sole Ellipticals go up to a 400 lb user weight capacity and are $900+ less).

Bottom Line:  Not Recommended

The Nautilus NE 3000 elliptical is a high end, commercial grade elliptical offering several unique features like remote control operation on the handlebars, self generating resistance and adjustable stride.

Nautilus units are built to very high quality standards and will last you a long time. However at this price point there is stiff competition and the reviews of the NE 3000 haven't been exactly stellar.

If you want commercial quality without the steep price tag, you might want to consider the Sole Ellipticals first - which give you higher user weight capacities, great expert and user reviews, more workout programs and a club like console - for hundreds less.
