Main Features:

20 Inch Stride Length -   Many cheaper ellipticals offer stride lengths of only 14 or 16 inches.  The larger stride length ensures you work the full range of leg muscles and burn maximum calories. This longer stride length is also appreciated by taller users or those with longer legs.

Proper Alignment Of Footpads - When you use an elliptical the natural alignment of your body is thrown off no matter how close the footpads are. The Sole E55 elliptical footpads have a slight inward angle of two degrees. This angle actually helps to puts your body back into a neutral alignment throughout the elliptical motion and protects your back, knees, ankles and hips.

350 lb Weight Capacity - a sign of the stability of the elliptical trainer is seen in how high a user weight capacity it offers. The higher the user weight capacity, the more stable the elliptical trainer (other things being equal).

Upper Body Arms - Upper body arms can help you increase your calorie burning and get an overall total body workout. Custom molded hand grips are a nice touch for a more comfortable feel.

16 Resistance Levels - This is sure to challenge even seasoned athletes - and a nice way to build in interval training.

Heart Rate Monitor - You can monitor your heart rate using either the handle bars with built-in pulse sensors or the heart rate chest strap for hands-free pulse monitoring.

Oversize Foot Pedals With Durable Foam Cushioning - The cushioning gives you a more comfortable workout. Because of the angle of these foot pedals, they are actually adjustable to fit the way you walk. This reduces numb toe effects and sore Achilles tendons, common occurrences on other elliptical machines

Extensive Warranties - With a lifetime warranty on the frame, 5  years on the parts and electronics and 2 years on service, this is one of the best elliptical warranties in the business and tells you something about the quality of parts.

Sole E55 Elliptical Trainer
Pros:

One of the best features of the Sole E55 elliptical is obviously the 20" stride length, not found on any other elliptical brand.  This ensures you work all your leg muscles and burn the maximum calories while working out. Taller users will also appreciate this feature.

The properly aligned footpads are also an incredible feature unique to Sole ellipticals and help protect you from injury and feel more comfortable during your workout. The console is excellent and has a nice commercial feel to the display. And to top it all off, the warranty is one of the most extensive warranties you'll find on an elliptical trainer.

Cons:

None that we can find so far, except perhaps that Sole ellipticals are becoming so popular, they are sometimes on backorder.

Bottom Line:  Highly Recommended

Basically if you want the quality of a commercial gym elliptical without the price tag, this is your elliptical. Sole has put a lot of work into their ellipticals and it shows.

The properly aligned footpads, 20 " stride length and extensive warranty outdoes most ellipticals on the market. Although the ultimate Sole Elliptical is still the Sole E95, if you're looking for a club-quality elliptical for under $1500, the Sole E55 is it.

Best Place To Buy At A Discount:

Sole ellipticals aren't available as widely as other brands since they're so new.  The best place to get one at cost is direct from the Sole manufacturer.  They offer free shipping and no sales tax so you'll save a few hundred dollars.

Sole elliptical trainers are manufactured by Sole Fitness. Sole may seem new but in fact they've been making treadmills for the hotel market for over 20 years and make some of the best treadmills on the market today (they are the preferred treadmill used by Hilton hotels).

They recently took their commitment to quality and put it into creating several high end home elliptical trainers.

The Sole E55 elliptical is their mid-priced elliptical at $1499 (on sale) and is competing with other mid-priced ellipticals like the Smooth CE 2.1 and the Schwinn 438.

So how does it compare? Here's a review of the Sole E55 elliptical to help you decide:
