A Review of Eclipse Crosstrainers & Where To Find Them At A Discount
As of this writing you can no longer find many of the Eclipse Fitness Quest ellipticals. The only one Fitness Quest is even selling is the 1100 HR elliptical.
While it does give you some great basics like a user-friendly console, heart rate monitor and 6 user programs, there are some major weaknesses.
You only get a 15" stride. This is quite short - you want a longer stride to ensure your legs are getting the full range of motion. A longer stride also feels more comfortable and gives a more effective workout.
And while the reviews are good for this elliptical, most users acknowledge that they had to fix their elliptical once or even several times.
There have also been problems reported with the flywheels coming loose. And the Eclipse 1175E was recently recalled for safety.
Summary: Not Recommended
Eclipse ellipticals are a discount line from Fitness Quest - the same company behind some of the more gimicky fitness equipment. That doesn't give them the best reputation for making high quality, long-lasting machines.
While their ellipticals used to be more popular, they are hard to find now. Plus they've been overtaken by stronger names like Nordic Track and Schwinn. These brands also have discount ellipticals which give you longer strides, better warranties, more fitness programs. and much better overall construction.
Given these things we would not recommend these ellipticals. However if you do buy one, just be prepared to do some fix-ups.

You can find the Eclipse 1100 HR ellipticals online. You can read the latest user reviews and even get Free Shipping to your home.
Eclipse elliptical trainers are made and sold by Fitness Quest - the same people that make the Ab Lounge, Total Gym and the Tony Little Gazelle.
This doesn't give Fitness Quest the best reputation in the fitness equipment business. Surprisingly however, their Eclipse line of ellipticals seemed to be very popular for a while.
This was probably due to their low prices - most ellipticals came in under $600.
Lately however, the brand seems to have stagnated.
Other brands like Nordic Track and Schwinn also offer affordable ellipticals that give you more than Eclipse trainers like longer strides and better warranties.
