Looking for an elliptical with incline ?
Incline (also called Ramp) is not the same as resistance (almost all ellipticals have different levels of resistance.)
Incline allows you to automatically increase your workout slope so you work different muscle groups. This gives you an overall better workout and prevents you from reaching an exercise plateau. It also helps you burns maximum amount of calories.
Incline was first introduced on the Precor elliptical models. However because Precor ellipticals are so expensive (around $3000+) most buyers couldn't afford to get an elliptical with incline.
Recently however incline is starting to make it's way into the home elliptical market. Several Nordic Track and Proform models offer incline (also called ramp). Some offer manual incline (where you have to get off the machine to change the incline) and others offer motorized power ramp.
Although incline isn't a necessary freature to have on an elliptical, some people do prefer it because of the crosstraining benefits.
