Proform XP 420 Razor Elliptical
A Detailed Review of the Proform XP 420 Elliptical & Where To Find It At A Discount
Strengths:
Compact - Measuring only 3.75 inches wide the XP 420 is about half as wide as other ellipticals. So if space is an issue, this is quite handy.
EKG Grip Pulse Sensors - Stay in your target heart rate range and monitor your heart rate with the sensors built into the handlebars.
4 Personal Trainer Workouts - 4 Personal Trainer workouts automatically adjust the resistance of the elliptical to focus on aerobic, weight loss, or performance goals.
2 Target Toning™ Trainer Workouts - You can target specific areas of your body with these workouts. You just select a specific muscle group and go.
Workout Fan - Stay cool while you workout with a fan built into the console. While this is a fairly standard feature on Proform machines, it's still a nice touch to have especially if you work out hard.
Weaknesses:
User reviews have been mixed. While assembly is easy, there has been some complaints about squeaking noises developing, which isn't surprising given the price.
Also, the console is quite simple and not backlit so it can be very hard to read if the elliptical is not in a well lit area.
Summary:
The Proform XP 420 Razor elliptical is getting some notice - mainly because it's affordable and very compact. If you're on a budget and space is an issue, you may be ok with this elliptical.
However it's an economy machine - and probably won't hold up well over the long run. The warranty is quite short and the console can be hard to read.
Around the price point, there are better values for your money. You might want to look at other Proform models or even the Nordic Track lineup.
