Strengths:
Incline - Incline lets you change your workout slope and work different muscle groups. This helps to burn the maximum amount of calories however incline is only found on certain Epic models.
Upper Body Workout Arms - These help you burn more calories in a shorter amount of time by involving your whole body in your workout.
18" Stride - Many Epic models come with a decent 18" stride which helps you get a more comprehensive workout (many cheaper ellipticals only come with a 14-16" stride).
Weaknesses:
Many Epic elliptical models don't come with much of a warranty and they can also be difficult to find (and service). Other ICON brands like Nordic Track and Proform run at a similar or even lower prices, and tend to give you more for your money.
Also, these are economy elliptical trainers so don't expect the commercial grade construction of say, a Sole elliptical.
Summary:
Epic ellipticals offer some great workout features including decent stride lengths, workout fans and lots of workout programs.
Some models even offer incline capability which helps you work an entirely different set of muscles and get an overall better workout.
They are also affordable if you're on a budget. However, compared to other economy ellipticals at this price point, we don't think they give you as much for your money. You might want to compare them to other brands like Nordic Track or Schwinn before you buy.
Epic elliptical trainers are not as popular as some other brands on the market.
The Epic name is owned by Icon Health and Fitness, one of the largest exercise equipment manufacturers in the world. (They also own brands like Nordic Track, Proform, Healthrider and Reebok.)
Epic only has a couple of ellipticals currently on the market and they tend to all be under $1000.
For example, the Proform Epic 1200 Pro comes in around $799 and offers an 18" stride, 18 built in workouts, power incline and a 350 lb weight capacity.
