Nordic Track Audiostrider 800 Elliptical
A Quick Review of the Nordic Track 800 Elliptical & Where To Find It At A Discount
Incline of up to 30 Degrees For A More Effective Calorie-Burning Workout - Incline (not the same as resistance) lets you change your workout slope. This helps you burn more calories, get a better workout by targeting different muscle groups and helps to avoid overtraining.
Incline is a feature that isn't found on most elliptical trainers (unless you want to spend $3000 on a Precor) so it's an incredible feature to find on the Audiostrider 800.
The Nordic Track 800 elliptical comes with manual incline (there are other Nordic track models like the Audiostrider 990 that have power incline). The manual ramp has a 3 settings with a maximum incline of 30 percent.
iPod Port With Built In Sound System - You can plug your iPod or MP3 player into the built-in audio jack and listen to your favorite music through the premium speakers built into the console. This alone can make your workouts a lot more energetic and enjoyable.
18 Inch Stride Length - Many ellipticals at this price point offer stride lengths of only 14 or 16 inches. The larger stride length ensures you work a larger range of leg muscles which helps to burn more calories and get a more effective workout for your time. This longer stride length is also appreciated by taller users or those with longer legs.
Folding -While many treadmills fold up, there are very few elliptical trainers that fold. If you're short on space, the ability for the Nordic track 800 to fold up and save you space will come in very handy. It also makes it easy to move and store for a quick clean up.
Weaknesses:
We would have liked to see a longer parts warranty on the Nordic track 800 elliptical. (parts and labor are covered for 1 year but you can buy extra coverage on checkout). However at this price point, all warranties are pretty similar.
Also note that the incline on this elliptical is manual - not power incline as you find in similar ellipticals like the Audiostrider 990. This means you have to get off the machine to change the incline - which can be a pain for some users.
Summary: Recommended
The Nordic Track Audiostrider 800 elliptical combines the core basics of a good entry-level elliptical with some extra features you won't find on other crosstrainers. You get a decent 18" stride for better workouts, higher 300 lb weight capacity for added stability, incline ramp for better calorie burning and an easy-to-read console to track your workout stats.
Plus it folds up for easy storage and cleaning - and there's an iFit card reader for focused workouts with personal trainers like Jillian Michaels. Finally there's the music port and console speakers for your mp3 or iPod which can make your workouts a lot more enjoyable.
Overall a good value for an entry level elliptical.
